My Job Title Is Data Coordinator Problem Solver
MANAGEMENT Each employee is given a specific job title and accompanying description, which are generally well defined and laid out. In addition to each employeeââ¬â¢s specific job title, everyone is given the title of ââ¬Å"Problem Solverâ⬠. During my internship my job title was Data Coordinator Problem Solver. Most of what I did was data management and integration. Integrating data and information flows between departments and across company borders is quite challenging. Learning and understanding the technology and the software programs took patience and persistence, as well as good training from a teacher-leader or mentor. My direct managerââ¬âthe Director of Automation, Jon Gerberââ¬âwas very interested in me having a successful experience during myâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦I have even heard comments like ââ¬Å"we are not a teamâ⬠and ââ¬Å"they donââ¬â¢t care about my personal well-beingâ⬠. Although my experience with my managers was the opposite, there are some that feel under-valued and under-respected by management. A lot of the poor employee morale problems stem from management not genuinely caring for their employees. In addition, the account managers will often put their clientsââ¬â¢ needs before their co-workers hindering a team-oriented atmosphere. I donââ¬â¢t know how many times an account manager came to us ââ¬Å"askingâ⬠to do something by the end of the day, and when we responded that we need more time because we have already been asked to do other things, they would just say, ââ¬Å"Well the client needs it today.â⬠This often meant that Steven had to work overtimeââ¬âsometimes all night long. In this regards, the account managers probably should not be telling the clients that we can have something done by a specific date and time without first consulting those involved, unless they plan on doing it themselves. Fostering a culture of communication and total team collaboration must precede decision making, if they want to fix this problem. COURSEWORK INTEGRATION AND CONTRIBUTION Two WSU courses that were the most helpful in preparing me for my internship are Business Communications and Quality Management.
