Animal Testing Should Not Be Banned - 1463 Words

Consumers buy products most commonly from brands that they feel provide the best quality. They are also counting on the products to be safe. For example beauty products should not be harmful to the area it is being applied on, and hair dyes should not cause other reactions other than coloring the consumer s hair. For companies, these are big concerns on their hands to avoid bad reputation, lawsuits, etc. There are many ways these products can be cleared and called safe. What a lot of buyers do not see is that the most commonly used method to check our products is by harming the lives of various animals. Animal testing should not be a permissible testing method that is used in the clinical and cosmetic world of products and†¦show more content†¦If consumers would be aware of what happens before these products are declared safe, there would be a decreased amount of purchases or certain products (Madar, A., Huang, H. H., Tseng, T. 2013). Our decision to purchase the products we do rely on many aspects including propaganda, popularity and the awareness that the products are reliable. Informing the public of the process the products go through in order to be sold could spark a relationship between the products consumers intend to buy ((Madar, A., Huang, H. H., Tseng, T. 2013). Some may argue that the consumers do not need to know the process only that the product is safe, because it is what is important. That is simply ignoring the problem and continuing with an unethical practice that in many cases does not meet with the Animal Welfare Act. Companies find loopholes to use animal testing because the Animal Welfare Act excludes â€Å"the most-used species† (Orlans, F. Barbara. The Injustice of Excluding Laboratory Rats, Mice, and Birds from the Animal Welfare Act.). The opposing side debates that these laboratory animals are necessary for product use. There justification is that these animals do not experien ce the same pain as humans do. What they fail to see is that the reason they are most commonly tested on is because they similarity they share with humans. If a medication soothes a patient the same way it soothed the animal, then it can be concluded that the same pain was once
